Day 2, London, June 16, 2017

Landed at Heathrow, Terminal 5, right on time.  Flight could not have been better.  As we left the airport we were greeted by a warm, sunny day with cooling breezes.  Our hotel, the London Marriott Hotel, West India Quay, is located in the heart of Canary Wharf.

Our room is nice, with an interesting view.

With the exception of many restaurants, and numerous food trucks, there is not much to East India Quay.  The food trucks did a bang up luncheon trade and some of the restaurants were also busy.

We strolled over to Cabot Square and walked around the stores and offices of the Canary Wharf area.  Stopped for a moment to visit with the King of the Jungle.

The area is modern and growing by the minute.  Construction everywhere.  The architecture is very interesting.  There are people rushing in all directions.  For those whose passion is shopping, this is the place, high end stores everywhere.  There is even a Tesla automotive showroom in one of the malls.  Buy a pair of sun glasses and a car to match.

Did I mention lunch and did I mention Cabot Square?  On a nice day the square is filled with folks eating their take away food.

In the afternoon we walked over to Westferry Circus.  It is a lovely little park surrounded by apartment buildings and offices.

From Westferry Circus it was a short walk to the Thames and the Canary Wharf ferry station.  Just in time to see one of the modern boats pull away, headed in the direction of London Bridge and the Tower of London.

The view of London from the ferry station was very nice.

And, due to flight fatigue, general exhaustion and “dogs” (feet) that won’t quit barking we decided to return to the hotel for a little R and R.
