Armchair Traveler, “The Gates,” Central Park, NYC, February 20, 2005

We visited New York 16 years ago today to see the installation of the Gates. The Gates were a group of gates comprising a site-specific work of art by Bulgarian artist Christo Yavacheff and French artist Jeanne-Claude, known jointly as Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The artists installed 7,503 vinyl “gates” along 23 miles of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12, 2005 through February 27, 2005. For more about the Gates see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gates. It was truly exciting. Here are a few of my photos from that afternoon.

I hope you enjoyed this short stroll through Central Park. Hopefully we will soon be able to travel again. Until then stay well and, as always, let me know what you think.
