Canadian Rockies and calgary, July 29 to august 7, 2022

July 29th and we are on the road again; seems like so long since we really traveled. We are visiting Calgary, Canada and the magnificent Canadian Rockies on a Tauck Tour. We flew from Philadelphia early this morning, July 29th, to Chicago and then connected to Calgary. Both flights were uneventful, which is the way we like them. Arrived in Calgary around 12:30 pm Mountain time. Checked into the Westin and were whisked off to our room in no time at all. It’s a very pleasant room on the ninth floor overlooking 4th street. Have a look.

After dropping our luggage we were off to see what Calgary had to offer. We left the hotel in search of Prince’s Island Park. It was a pleasant walk from our hotel. There are walks on both sides of the Bow River,

And I snapped this photo as we crossed over to the island. The river level was low enough that folks were able to stroll around in it.

The park is a serene and peaceful place.

As we walked westerly toward the the bridge that takes one to 6th Street, SW, I took these photos. The first is of the Bow River looking easterly and the next ones are of the residential area on the other side of the river.

Then we were off to Stephen Avenue (also known as 8th avenue) to snoop around in that area. Stephen Avenue is a pedestrian walk that goes for a number of blocks. It has shops and restaurants and just about everything.

We walked over to the Olympic Park where people were walking in the pool to cool off.

In the background, as you can see from this photo, stands the clock tower of the old city hall.

I truly appreciate the architecture in this city. The diversity is outstanding. What I refer to as the downtown, or core area, is really interesting. Here are just a few examples.

After a beverage at a spot on Stephen Avenue, we made our way back to the Westin where we were destined to have dinner in the Keg Steakhouse since we couldn’t get reservations anywhere else. By the time dinner was over we were beat and collapsed for a good night’s sleep.

Good night Calgary.

Hi. I have missed hearing about your travels and how you are both doing. I of course understand why. We have gone no where except planning a week out in Montauck in two weeks. Life is simply different. Thx for sharing. Love to you both Kathy
