Koh Oknha Tay is a typical Khmer river community where weaving is an art. The visit began with a ride in a tuktuk. Let’s get started.

We stopped here in the afternoon to see a skillful demonstration by a number of ladies. When we arrived the weavers were hard at work at their looms. I did my best to capture the moment. The visit began with an overview of the process beginning with the silk worms.

Weaving involves hand, eye and foot coordination. I’m also certain it takes a serene mind set to work the silk and loom to create beautiful results.

In this photo she is about to send the shuttle along its path, carrying thread from one side to the other.

In this photo you can see the golden pattern developing.

Notice the speed with which she moves her hands as she manipulates the loom. See the movement in her hands while her torso is perfectly still.

The final product. A work of art.

On the way back to the Viking Saigon, I captured this photo with Phnom Penh in the background.
