Adare and The Rock of Cashel, October 19, 2013

October 19, 2013 found us in Adare. We rented a car and drove on the left side of the road from Dublin.  What an interesting experience.  Fortunately, we were able to rent an automatic.  I can’t imagine driving on the left while handling the shift, the clutch and watching for traffic coming from my right.  Adare is famous for its thatched roof houses, and described by many as Ireland’s prettiest village.  Here’s a teaser.

Here are a few more photos from Adare.

The Rock of Cashel, on the Tipperary Plain, has stood for more than a millennium and was originally the seat of the Kings of Munster.  In 1101 it was given to the church.  It overlooks the surrounding pastures and local homes and is a stark reminder of the history of the area.
