Sunrise; how lovely!

Wednesday, February 1st finds us in Costa Maya. This stop is so passengers in need of a beach, or should I say pool, can enjoy themselves or, more importantly, so the can visit the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben. If you wish you can also visit the little seaside town of Mahahual. We’ve been here on a few occasions and enjoy the little shopping area built up around the port. Our plans are to stroll around the shops, take a few photos and head back to the ship.

The day is hot and sunny; just what we were hoping for. A view of the area from the ship.

The water is a beautiful blue with shadows of clouds floating just below the surface.

We disembarked around 1pm for a visit to the port side shopping area. Here are a couple of shots I took as we walked down the pier. The first is of a beach outside the port shops but not used by swimmers, at least not today. If you wanted a beach you needed to take a taxi. We’re not beach people, truth is I don’t like sand in my shoes or bathing suit so I don’t go to the beach.

This mural is painted on a sea wall dividing the beach from the shops on the left.

There are two ships here today with us, the Ruby Princess, which arrived before us and the Carnival Breeze, which arrived later in the afternoon. Here is a photo of JoAnn and me as we got to the entrance of the resort shopping area.

What follows are a few shots of the area. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived but when Carnival disembarked the place over flowed with people. These shots are just before the Carnival crowd arrived.

We found these guys strolling in a little pond area.

Then, in the blink of an eye we were back on the Beyond.
