The Seabourn Sojourn, July 2024

The Sojourn is a lovely ship. It holds about 450 passengers, all in suites. I thought you might like a glimpse of some areas of the ship. Let’s start with our cabin, 534. It’s in a really great location, central on deck 5 and just down the corridor from the club; convenient to the stairs (which we generally use) and the elevators. Have a look at the deck plan when you have a chance.

First, a few words about the Sojourn. The ship is extremely clean and well maintained. The crew and staff, from the captain to the cruise director to the servers in the restaurants and bars, are all very pleasant and nice. And, service is great. Our cabin stewards, Leah and Samuel are doing a bang-up job and I can’t speak highly enough about them.

The shows after dinner have been very entertaining. A comedian, who I found extremely funny, and two vocalists with lovely voices. Even the cruise director, Robert, sang for us and you couldn’t ask for a better voice as he sang a selection from Les Mis. The dancers and singers in the ship’s troupe are excellent.

Food in the dinning room, and in the other venues, has been very good (I really like the soups). For example, tonight (July 8th) in the Restaurant the chef’s, special is Eggplant Piccata with ratatouille, yellow pepper, coulis, rocket, and parmesan. You can also select from pan roasted turbo, caramelized sea scallops and capon saltimbocca (which I had and is really good), oven baked pork tenderloin, grilled hanger steak and New York cut sirloin steak or others. And there is always the classic menu to choose from if you don’t find anything in the evening’s offerings to your liking. If you prefer, you can go to the Colonnade where tonight‘s menu features Indian cuisine.

The Restaurant.

The Colonnade. Although the colonnade is buffet during the day, during the dinner hours it is table service. And, weather permitting you can sit outside.

Now, let’s start on deck 9 at the Observation Bar. It overlooks the bow and provides a great view of sailing or you can just spend some time whiling away an afternoon with, perhaps, a single malt scotch.

The pool on deck 8.

Corridor leading to the shop on the left and the Square straight ahead.

Let’s peek into the shop. Lots of nice things to choose from.

Onto the Square. It is where one finds guest services, the coffee shop, the library and the internet cafe. Lets start with guest services.

The coffee bar.

The library, Internet cafe and general relaxation area are also located here.

Early on in the cruise the Captain and senior officers hosted a party in the Grand Salon (the primary showroom). Here are a couple of photos. The first is of us with Captain Elliott and Cruise Director Robert.

The next is of one of the dancers. He thought he was being funny, and he was, but didn’t expect me to get the photo, but I did.

And here is a view of the Grand Salon with the stage in the background.

Moving on to one of our favorite places, The Club. It serves a few functions, a bar, a secondary showroom and a sushi bar. Let’s see if I can show you everything, beginning with the bar area. By the way, that’s my iPad on the table in the foreground and my RobRoy in the glass.

And next, but not least, the casino.

So, you may ask, who is this? Well, on one of the first nights of the trip we went to see the comedian, Steve Stevens, who I might add was very entertaining and funny. And, as we left, after he had finished his set, I wanted to get a photo with the Captain and Cruise Director and he volunteered to take the photo. Then snapped this one first. Nice photo of Steve Steven’s. I’ll never forget him. Not because he took our photo, and his, but because he was funny.

By now you may guess that I like staircases. So, here are a couple of photos looking down, and up, the central staircase on the ship.

Down.

And up.

When retiring, say goodnight to Pickels. He is on deck 5, waiting.

The Sojourn is lovely and a great place to spend some time, or a lot of time.
