After dinner I decided to take a walk along the waterfront from our docking point to Place de la Bourse, a distance about a mile. As I began, around 9pm, the sun was bright but starting to drop on the horizon. There was still an hour before sunset. By this time at home, in New Jersey, the sky would have been deep blue with the sun a memory.
I snapped a few of photos going and coming, starting with this photo of a statute of Modeste Testas, a 14 year old girl of Ethiopian birth who was sold as a slave to traders from Bordeaux. She later received her freedom and went on to be the grandmother of a president of Haiti serving from 1888 to 1889.

Moving on down the quay, I observed this couple sitting on the grass, enjoying the twilight; waiting for dark.

The Place de la Bourse reflected in the Miroir d’ Eau, a fountain and the world’s largest reflecting pool covering an area of 3450 square meters. Two photos with different lighting.

The fountain at Place de la Bourse.

Just a typical street leading to, or is it away from, the Place de la Bourse with the sun dipping in the west.

The Pont de Pierre.

I was looking to see if I could capture a photo of light trails as the traffic passed by. The light trails are obvious but the overall effect is as if it is an abstract painting. I like it for the colors and movement the photo suggests.

And here’s one more taken as I was returning to the Sojourn. Just look at the vivid colors and, once again, the movement it suggests.

The ship awaiting my return.

Good night Bordeaux.

Just wonderful!
Enjoying the photos. Looking forward to La Rochelle.
