A Sunny Day in Cowes, 7/10/24

A rarity on this trip was a sunny day. Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, in the United Kingdom, was just that and a welcome relief from the wind and rain we experienced off and on. I planned to take a bike ride tour in the morning but, due to some back issues, begged off. So, we took our time and visited this lovely town after lunch.

How about a photo taken as we were at anchor in the harbor. That’s right, Cowes was a tender port.

The tender in took between 20 and 30 minutes. I was told that was due to the wind into which we were heading. The tender, as you may well imagine, pounded into the wind blown waves as we made our way. But the trip was worth the ride.

The little village was just delightful. We started up High Street, leading from the harbor, and I captured a number of photos as we made our way. Many of the pics are of stores and others of houses and buildings that I found interesting and attractive; sprinkled in with them are a couple of side streets. The photos speak for themselves. Enjoy our stroll through Cowes.

I stopped to capture this photo of the harbor.

Continuing our stroll up High Street.

The vegetables at Rosalie’s.

I thought this display at the local bookstore, Medina Bookstore, was interesting.

I took notice of this door, I do enjoy a good door. What caught my attention was the upright 8 along with the drooping 8.

Moving on. I liked the name of this business. Made me think of Harry Potter.

When ordinary just isn’t good enough. Couldn’t pass this up.

A few more pics as we were on our way back to the Sojourn.

The shops along High Street were diverse with interesting displays and I thought the Nook and its neighbor was among them.

We came upon this private residence as we continued our stroll.

This last shot of Cowes harbor taken as we were waited for our tender back to the Sojourn. I really like this photo.

We throughly enjoyed our brief visit and believe a return visit would be welcome. Undoubtedly there is more to this village than we had time to visit.
