Some time in St. Kitts, February 4, 2025

Changeable is the word for the weather this trip. Many mornings start with rain but by the afternoon the sun is out warming us up.

Today, as we docked at Port Zante in St. Kitts, the weather was more of the same. All-in-all the weather has been pleasant.

We left the Princess around 1pm, after a leisurely lunch at the Salty Dog on deck 16. It was a long, windy walk from the ship to the mandatory shopping center. I took the next photo as we were working our way along the pier and the other two of the shopping area.

We made it through the Pelican Shopping Mall, the building that separates the shopping area from the town and stepped out onto Bay Road, a Main Street through the town of Basseterre. I stopped to take a photo . . .

. . . before we began meandering up West Independence Street in the direction of Independence Square. Once there we encountered a gentleman who informed as that the square was once the site of slave auctions. Today it is a quiet place to rest. Here are a few photos of the area.

There were a number of different birds just strolling along. Here’s one.

On East Independence Street we came upon the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral.

I took a couple of photos inside. The interior was lovely; providing an aire of tranquility and comfort.

Floral arrangement in front of the alter with the reflection of the stained glass window bouncing off the floor..

This a view of a closed window with stained glass set in above. After that another of an open window looking toward East Independence Street.

Following our visit to the Co-Cathedral we began to make our way back to the Pelican Mall and the ship. Here are a few more photos I took along the way, beginning with the Immaculate Conception Catholic School.

I would be remiss if I didn’t comment on how clean the area was. We were both impressed.

A little beach front retreat.

On our way back to the ship. Notice the sign, “Back to ship,” which way is it pointing? We took a right and it so happened that that was the correct direction.

I took these on our way back.

Good bye St. Kitts. We’ll be back again some time. Tomorrow is a day at sea.
