A Moment or Two in Antigua, February 3, 2025

As JoAnn often reminds me, we travel in the winter to get somewhere warm so we generally book onto a Caribbean cruise. The ports, all of which we’ve visited numerous times, are not very important. To say, “if you’ve seen one Caribbean Island you’ve seen them all,” is somewhat true. That’s not intended to denigrate them but most do look, at least around the port areas, somewhat similar. You disembark and are greeted by the mandatory colorful and busy shopping area. Downtown shops now have a presence here and that has served, in my opinion, to depreciate the downtowns.

You enter the town after working your way past the shops. We intended to walk around a little, never getting too far away from the piers. I took a few photos as we made our way. Enjoy Antigua, photos taken, in no particular order, as we strolled around.

I truly love the color . . .

. . . and the architecture . . .

. . . and the people.

As I said, we’ve been here a number of times and each and every one of them we have visited The Goldsmitty jewelry store and today was no exception.

It’s owned by a Dutch couple and they create quite lovely pieces. I snapped this photo, with permission, inside the shop.

Then, in a flash, we were on our way back to the ship. I took this last photo because I thought the composition was interesting. Need a hat or, perhaps, your hair braided?

Sailing from Antigua. How do you like this photo?

Or this one,

Or this one? Let me know. They are all the same, just tweaked a bit. Feedback will be appreciated.

Goodbye Antigua!

Thanks Sharon for your response. It seems that everyone, all 3 of you who responded, like the first one best. I just thought I would experiment with some editing to include a black and white. I like them all and think the black and white to be somewhat dramatic.

I think I like the first picture of the sailing the best. Looks like another fun time on the island. Pictures are very nice.
