Awoke to another rainy morning; clouds and mist all around. After making my regular morning run for two cappuccinos, we decided to give the day a chance to ripen and see if the sun would make an appearance. Lo and behold, around noon Old Sol was high in the sky, where he was destined to be the rest of the day.

We left the Enchanted Princess around 1:15 to visit the Portside town of Philipsburg, the capital of Sint Maarten and a constituent country of the Netherlands. The Dutch share the 37 square mile island with the French. The French capital is located a short distance away, in the town of Marigot. Although we’ve been to Marigot many times, usually for lunch, we opted for a simple walk through Philipsburg on this visit.
It was quite warm and breezy as we made our way to catch the water taxi from the pier into town. Here is a photo taken of the little shopping area around the dock. The community has done a nice job making the area open, clean and inviting. It was a welcome change to the sorry area Havensight, in St. Thomas has become.

And now, the water taxi. $7.00 round trip plus tip.

The ride, after everyone was shoehorned on, took about 5 minutes.
I took this photo of the beach after leaving the taxi. Talk about cramming people together. I wonder how early in the morning one needs to arrive to get an umbrella on the water’s edge?

And another photo looking in the opposite direction along the beach. I would love to have the umbrella franchise on Sint Maarten.

This clock is interesting and is right twice a day.

It used to keep time for the parishioners of this lovely, old church.

We just continued to wander along Front Street and not far from the church we came upon the Court House.

We’ve generally enjoyed Philipsburg. Today was no different except some of the stores were closed for a break on Sunday.
As we made our way, I mentioned to JoAnn that I recalled a store where I admired shirts that were on display in the window. It must have been telepathy, or something, because as I turned to look across the street I saw this store that was sending a message, come on in, this is it. I was looking a Laurent Avenue, a clothing store, primarily for men, that was the same one I visited on January 29, 2020. I know that for a fact as I searched it on my blog. Check it out.
Well, of course we went in and met with Tiffany, with whom I visited on our last visit, and her husband Haresh. Haresh is holding a Robert Graham shirt which is itself a work of art. You need to get up close to see the details captured in these items of clothing.

Is that serendipity or what?
Came across this guy as we taxied back to the ship.

Next port of call is Antigua.

This is perfect, really enjoying the photos and your commentary.
Thanks Barbara.
