We started the day with a tour starting at the Hotel de Ville.

Then our group stopped for a photo op on a bridge as we were on our way to Notre Dame Cathedral.

Here’s my entry.

Then on to Notre Dame, which is currently being restored after a devastating fire on April 15, 2019. Here are some shots of that historic cathedral.

Our tour guide, Leif, is discussing the fire and explaining the restoration efforts.

Then I took a slight detour to visit the famous Shakespeare and Co. Bookstore.

Then Lief took us on a stroll up Rue Saint Jacques to the memorial of Rene Joseph Vinchon, a resistance fighter who died at this site, having been shot by the Nazis, on 22 August 1944.

I managed to capture a few street scenes to share with you as we walked along.

The afternoon found us in the Louvre. The Pyramid, outside and in, is spectacular.

I took some photos of fan favorites, Winged Victory and the Venus de Milo.

Here are a couple of shots I took as we made our way to visit the Mona Lisa.

I like this photo of the courtyard taken from within the building.

Jewels anyone?

I liked this crucifix as it hung solitary on the wall.

The hallway as we made our way to see Mona. She’s very popular.

The Mona Lisa for your consideration. The crowd is impossible, pushing and shoving to get up front and a good view.

From there we went to see sculptures in another hall. One of my favorites is Cupid’s Kiss by Antonio Canova. It depicts Cupid kissing Psyche who had just awakened. I did a little study for your consideration. Let me know what you think.

One last to say goodbye to the Louvre.

The bakery Odette in your photo near Shakespeare & Co. Has the BEST cream filled pastries! Thank you for allowing me to join you on your travels.
Thanks for the nice comment. Next time we’re in Paris we’ll try to stop by Odette. I was really interested in Shakespear & Co.
Great photos as usual. It’s a shame the weather wasn’t great. Good to see the progress being made on Notre Dame. Lyon looks like a nice port.
