Paris at last, October 19, 2023

It been a long time coming. We were originally scheduled to travel to Paris and beyond in July 2020 but no thanks to the pandemic that never happened. We, JoAnn, Barbara Jimmy and I, rescheduled to this October, 2023 and we have been anxiously looking forward to our adventure.

We arrived in Paris following a pleasant flight from Philadelphia.  This is the first day of our journey.  After transferring from De Gaulle airport to the L’Hotel Du Collectionneur, our lodging for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we were off to visit the Eiffel Tower.  Our tickets were for 1600 hours (4 pm if you prefer).  The view of Paris from the second level is spectacular.

Let’s start with a couple of photos of the hotel. The first speaks for itself. The second is a shot of the garden courtyard beyond the lobby and the third is one of JoAnn and Barbara just chilling after a long flight and before heading off to the Eiffel Tower.

Across the street is a little sidewalk cafe where we enjoyed a drink or two.

Our Viking representative (that’s right we are traveling with Viking River with Paris as our first stop before embarking on a river cruise down the Rhône from Lyon to Avignon) took us on a little walk about. We passed through Parc Monceau. Here are just three shots from the park including the beautiful gate.

I loved this tree and the lovely blue flower (by now you know I’m a sucker for flowers).

Off to the tower, a true landmark and one I never tire of seeing or visiting.

The view from the second level is outstanding. Enjoy what we were fortunate to see.

Then, after 6 1/2 hours in the air, running around airports, going through luggage collection and passport control and our visit to the Eiffel Tower it was back to the hotel for dinner and a much welcomed nights sleep.
